Traveling alone was one of the best things I’d ever done. I was a little worried at first, but I soon found that it is very liberating and self-fulfilling. When you travel alone you can do whatever you want. You can eat whenever, see whatever, and go wherever you want. You can’t fully appreciate this freedom until you travel with other people. While it did have some downsides, I still wholeheartedly endorse solo traveling to anyone.
If you want to travel but can’t find someone to join you, the best option for you is to become a joiner to an organized tour event. Last weekend, I decided to join the Calaguas tour organized by my friend April of Tour Leisure Adventures. I’m surprised that the total tour package is only P2,500.

The Calaguas is a group of islands located in the Philippine province of Camarines Norte. A merely two hour boat ride from the town of Vinzons. The beaches here are covered in soft, white sand and there is a lot of natural overgrowth. The island is quite big but intimate — there is something private and humbling about it.
Calaguas is a perfect place for couples, families and even solo travelers looking for a one of a kind island vacation. Everything a person could want in a tropical island — clear water, white sand beaches and warm sunny days. It’s as close to heaven as you can get. While Calaguas have always been thought of as an expensive place to visit, it’s actually an incredible budget traveler destination.
Tinaga Island has a cove with long stretch of beach named Halabang Baybay / Mahabang Buhangin. Long stretch of fine white sand dotted with volcanic rocks on its both ends makes this place the most frequented camping and swimming site by tourists.
If you’re tired from swimming, you may trek and ascend Mt. Balabag and witness the upper part of Calaguas. A must-try adventure while you are in Calaguas. You may wait for the sunset or sunrise while enjoying the scenery and landscapes of Calaguas. Guide fee was P100 and Entrance fee was P20.
Tired and hungry, all of the joiners were welcomed by these sumptuous meal prepared by the locals of Calaguas.
Due to the gale warning, we were not allowed to go on an Island Hopping and surfing at Bagasbas so we decided to stay at Tinaga Island for 2 days. It’s saddening that we were not able to do those other activities but it was still fine for me at least our safety is on top of their priority. Overall, it was still a great island adventure for me and I even win some new found friends on our short trip at this majestic island.
